A visit with spectacular views

The Tristaina Solar Viewpoint was designed by Joan Viladomat, architect Toni Riberaygua, civil engineer Sergi Riba, and structural engineer Lluís Moya.

It consists of a suspended metal sphere 25 meters in diameter and 1.25 meters wide, overlooking the Tristaina lakes and the Ordino valley.

How to get there

To enjoy these views, take the Tristaina cable car and then the Creussans chairlift. The first section takes about 10 minutes.

Approximate time

The second section is a 15–20 minute chairlift ride to the base of the La Coma restaurant.

Recommendation

We recommend wearing mountain footwear suitable for walking on this type of terrain.

Solar Clock of Tristaina Viewpoint
  Solar clock

A viewpoint that tells the time

The viewpoint, one of the highest in the Ordino Biosphere Reserve, is designed as a solar clock where the central mast marks the time on the circle itself.

In addition, this inclination corresponds to the exact latitude of the viewpoint according to its geographical coordinates.

  The solar mountain

An extraordinary natural phenomenon

From the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, you can see Arcalís Peak, also known as the Solar Mountain, where an extraordinary natural phenomenon occurs once a year.

Every August 7th at 7:37 in the morning, the sun is visible for three minutes through a large hole between the rocks.
